Lessons in Love and Hate: Peyton and Chase's Full Story, Characters & Ending

The first session at Chase's empty mansion almost ends in a kiss, until his brother Trey walks in. Peyton decides it was a trick and moves their lessons to the library. Then Chase grabs her car keys and drives them to a party instead. She is out of her depth, but they win round after round of beer pong together and nearly kiss on the dance floor. When the jocks start chanting, Chase pretends he must be drunk, and Peyton is crushed.

Still, she sees another side of him. He is patient and sweet with Henry. At the library she spots that he mixes up words and asks whether he is dyslexic. He admits a teacher once thought so and his father would not hear of it. With reading apps and her help, he gets his best English grade in years.

Then the bank says the Moores will lose their house. Audrey mocks Peyton in class, Chase gives clumsy advice and keeps his distance in front of his friends, and Peyton quits as his tutor. He fails his midterm, and his father smashes a lamp and orders him to military school. Peyton goes to the Wescott house, faces Roland and wins Chase a makeup test.

Chase turns up for Sunday dinner. He tells Peyton the drugs that got him expelled were Trey's, and he took the blame. They kiss, and she panics and says they should be friends. At a second party Chase nearly fights Nicky, thinking he is her boyfriend. Out on the balcony, Peyton finally admits how much she likes him, and they kiss.

Audrey secretly films them kissing and streams it online. By the time Peyton checks her phone, the whole school has seen it. When she tells everyone she and Chase are together, he says nothing. Nicky stops talking to her, her mom is ashamed, and her dream college puts her on the waitlist.

Peyton is done being pushed around. In the hallway she calls Audrey out in front of everyone, and even Audrey's friends turn on her. Then she tells Chase he is a coward.

Her words land. Chase stands up to his father, and Trey finally admits the drugs were his and plays a recording of Roland's rage. The brothers move out together. Peyton makes up with Nicky, and then her college calls: her place is back, with a full scholarship, at the request of a member of the Wescott family.

At a school assembly, Chase takes the microphone and tells everyone he has loved Peyton since they met and should have defended her. The police arrest Audrey for the video. Chase drops off a check for Henry's next semester, and Peyton's dad finds a new job, so the family keeps the house.

Cut off by his father, Chase takes a job as a waiter and starts saving for community college. He shows up at Peyton's door with flowers to thank her and ask for another chance. She forgives him and kisses him, Henry joins the hug, and Chase stays for Sunday dinner with his brother invited too.
