Pretend We're Perfect: Izzy and Jackson's Full Story, Characters & Ending

The act starts badly. At a bar with Emily and Alex, a tipsy Izzy kisses Jackson and falls asleep in his bed. The next morning she panics and asks if they slept together, and Jackson, offended, sends her home. She wins him back with a peace offering: Mr. Wigglebottoms, a goofy keepsake they have shared for years.

Emily names Izzy her maid of honor, has Jackson hired as the wedding photographer, and pairs Izzy with Alex to plan the joint bachelor and bachelorette party. At the bridal shop, Izzy tries on a wedding gown for fun and sends Jackson a photo. He texts back that he hopes she wears it on their wedding day.

At a family dinner, Samuel grills Jackson about proposing and babies until Izzy blows up and storms out. In the backyard she almost kisses Jackson, then dances with him in the rain. Inside, a drunk Alex says he doesn't buy their act and makes a crude remark, and Jackson punches him. On the drive home, Jackson finally gets his photo shoot, and he and Izzy share their first real kiss.

Then Jackson's ex, Claudia, calls him out to fix her car and lets slip that Izzy once slept with David, Jackson's best friend. Izzy explains it was a one-time thing after her breakup with Alex, but Jackson is crushed and says even being friends is too much right now. He confronts David too.

At the bachelorette party, Jackson ignores Izzy. When he flirts with Kerry, Izzy throws a drink at her, and Jackson tells Izzy he can't pretend anymore. Alex overhears and figures out the truth, but Izzy convinces him that exposing them would break her father's heart and hurt Emily. In the bathroom, Izzy finally admits to Sloane that she is in love with Jackson.

On Emily's wedding day, Jackson barely looks at Izzy. He is so busy watching her walk down the aisle that he trips into a guest, who spills red wine on her dress. At the reception, Izzy confesses to her parents that the relationship was fake. They already know: Jackson told Samuel everything, including how much he loves her. Samuel tells Izzy to forget his wish. All he wants is for her to be happy.

Izzy and Jackson meet in the middle of the backyard. She admits she has always wanted it to be him, and he says he doesn't want a life without her. That night he gives her his keepsake box, full of letters he wrote her over the years, saying he has always loved her.

Later, in a simple wedding in her parents' backyard, Izzy marries her best friend. Samuel watches from a wheelchair, and a pregnant Emily sits beside Alex. Once they are husband and wife, Izzy says no more pretending, and Jackson tells her they're perfect.
