Mason and the board hired Eric behind Vivian's back, and Mason quietly leans on a board member who owes him a favor to push for a vote of no confidence. Vivian tells Eric that their night was a mistake. He answers by leaving an apricot on her desk, a reminder of the safeword he gave her at the club.

Vivian tries to keep Eric at a distance, but he is good at the job and better at reading her. When she hurts her ankle at the company gym, he carries her to her office, and she finally asks him to stay. Danielle nearly catches them.

Vivian has Eric looked into and learns he is the son of a disgraced rival tycoon. He tells her he has cut ties with his father and is working to support his mother. At the company gala, Mason offers Eric a million dollars to sabotage her, and Vivian overhears. But when Danielle swaps her reports for fake numbers, Eric produces the real file in front of the COO and a board member, and turns the money down.

Their affair deepens, in the office and at the club. When Mason swaps her financial files before an investor meeting, Eric plays the security footage that shows him doing it. Danielle, though, has followed the couple to the club and taken photos.

A major client pulls out and the board threatens a vote of no confidence. Vivian tears apart Danielle's risky expansion plan in front of everyone, but photos of her kissing Eric leak to the whole office. She accuses Eric of selling her out, and he quits.

Mason and Danielle then lay out their terms: Vivian steps down, names Mason CEO, and the rest of the pictures stay private. Vivian drafts her resignation, but Eric comes back and tells her to fight. She gathers her lawyers and her loyal COO and decides to stop hiding.

When the photos hit the headlines, Vivian faces the press. She admits the relationship was a mistake, but she will not apologize for being human. At the board meeting, she presents proof of Mason and Danielle's affair, fraudulent records and financial mismanagement, and Eric arrives with witness statements and hidden reports.

The board votes unanimously. Vivian stays CEO, Mason is removed, and Danielle is told to resign. When Mason says he still owns part of the company as her husband, Vivian points to their prenup and tells him she is divorcing him.

Then she tells the board she is falling in love with Eric and will resign if anyone objects. The board allows it, on one condition: Eric moves to another department. In the hallway, Eric tells her he is falling in love with her too, and Vivian kisses him in front of the whole staff.
