Catfished in Paris is a romantic mystery about an American who flies to Paris to meet her online boyfriend and gets stood up. The charming stranger who rescues her day seems perfect, except that he refuses to tell her what he does for a living.
He never shows up. Hours later his dating profile has disappeared, and when the bill comes, all three of her cards are declined. Lucas, a handsome stranger who has been watching her from another table, pays and offers to show her a better side of Paris.
The day gets worse before it gets better. Her boss in New York accuses her of abandoning her job and fires her over the phone. Then Lucas takes her to a gallery opening, where the manager, Nettie Moreau, offers her a job in Paris. Harper is so thrilled that she kisses him.
A bubbly, hopeful romantic from New York who works in the art world and still believes in love, even after being stood up on the other side of the ocean.

The next morning Lucas slips out early for work, and Harper wakes up alone to a neighbor pounding on the door. The woman warns her, in broken English, that Paris is not safe for tourist women. Rattled, Harper wanders the city. Through a restaurant window she thinks she spots Pierre, but when she rushes inside the table is empty, and suddenly Lucas is standing there instead, in his work suit, asking what she is doing there.
That night she opens Lucas's laptop and finds emails from HeartLink, the dating site where she met Pierre, and messages from Pierre's username. Sure that the two men are working together, she runs. Lucas swears he is a private investigator hired to expose Pierre as a scammer, but she doesn't believe him and checks into a hotel.
When the police lights arrive, a woman named Captain Maxime introduces herself as Lucas's commanding officer. Lucas is not a private investigator. He is an undercover detective, and his team has been tracking Pierre's gang for months as they scammed and robbed tourists. Pierre and his crew are now in custody. When Lucas walks up unhurt, Harper throws her arms around him. He lied to her, she says, but he saved her.
